Arguably, one of the most exciting parts of any award show is seeing what the celebs choose to wear on the red carpet - and this year's VMAs was no different. Everyone turned up for the occasion, and the outfits definitely did not disappoint. From Taylor Swift's silver chain mini dress to Lizzo's "couture off the runway" Jean Paul Gaultier gown, the stars showed up last night! So let's take a closer look at some of our favorite stand-out looks from this year's VMAs.
Let's start strong - with the one and only Taylor Swift. The singer showed up in a gorgeous chain-embellished Oscar de la Renta dress, dripping in rhinestones with matching silver Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. The Blank Space singer finished off the outfit with her signature red lip and classic cat eye. Not only did she literally sparkle on the red carpet, but she made history with all her wins last night - including the VMA for best long-form video for All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version)! Oh, and while she was accepting her awards, she let the world know she has a new album on the way, dropping on October 21. Yes, really.
The theme of the night seemed to be floral between Sabrina Carpenter, Dove Cameron, and Dylan O'Brien, who all rocked some variation of the classic print. Cameron gave us more emo meets floral princess in her black and dark colored Paco Rabanne dress and matching choker. At the same time, Carpenter rocked the summer cutout look in a sequin floral embroidered Moschino gown, paired with a black Jennifer Behr headband.

To wrap up some of the hottest lewks of the evening, we must give credit to all that showed up in a color that can do no wrong: black. Dixie D'Amelio walked the carpet in a floor-length, sequin halter Alexandre Vauthier gown, while Bebe Rexha also dawned the color in a Vivienne Westwood gown with a diamond B necklace to top off the look. The night wouldn't be complete without a head-turning fit from the YSL ambassador, who is known for bringing total camp carpet. The artist shined on the carpet in an outstandingly dramatic Harris Reed piece, which included a black-feathered hoop skirt and a larger-than-life matching headpiece. Anyways, award season has just begun, and we cannot wait to see what the stars have in store for us! Stay tuned.
