As Gen-Z has constantly been saying: skinny jeans are out. Meaning we've resorted to buying new and approved styles like baggy jeans. But sometimes it can be a bit difficult knowing how exactly to wear them. Like how does Bella Hadid make them look so good? Well, luckily the stylists who dress our favorite stars have revealed some tips and tricks on the best way to dress the baggy denim. Here's how.
A few clients of Karla Welch include Justin and Hailey Bieber, aka the queen of street style, so we know she's bound to have some good tips. Welch explained to Vogue that the loose-fitted jeans can be very versatile: "You can do it two ways - fitted on top or all oversized. They both work." Basically, if the bottom half of your outfit is baggy, the top should be more form-fitting - think of a tight tank top or cropped t-shirt. Or, you can go all out with a baggy crewneck or oversized t-shirt. "The key to pulling it off is confidence and the correct length. You still have to be able to walk and not drag your pants and get tripped, but they definitely need to hit the floor," she added.
Another recommended way of stylizing comes from Elizabeth Stewart, who's worked with stars including Gal Gadot and Amanda Seyfried. "I'd style baggy jeans with a sharply tailored jacket that is cropped to show the waist, cinched with a good belt. Contrast is great, so [try] a feminine ruffled blouse or an embellished sweater," Stewart advised. It's all about the correct shape when it comes to baggy jeans. We don't want it to look like we're drowning in denim! "The key to a baggy jean is pairing it with extreme proportions on top - either an oversized blazer or long coat, or shrunken and cropped," added Thomas Christos Kikis, who has worked with TikTok star and fashion icon Amelie Zilber.
