It seems every day; there's a new must-have fashion style trend. Just as we finally got comfortable with the Jorts, boxer shorts, and Jelly sandals, now the catwalk is throwing us another curve ball - crop tops. While many will hear these words and instantly think of the long-lost '80s and '90s fashion style, this time, it's different. How, you may ask? Well, the 2022 Spring Summer runway will provide all the answers we need...

As the Miu Miu runway show began and the models walked down one after the other bearing their mid-drift in miniskirts and tiny tops, it became abundantly clear that this was this season's go-to look. Immediately, belly-showing crop tops were the new summer wardrobe staple, and the range of models provided endless options on how to style them. Pairing the short-cut top with high waist pants or baggy trousers is one fun way to balance out the proportions, especially for those not looking to reveal too much skin.

That being said, for the boldest souls amongst us, the fashion world has declared that the best way to wear the crop top is to pair it with an ultra-short mini skirt, as seen on the catwalk. It's revealing, yes, but it's one of those 'go big or go home' kinda things, and you're bound to look incredibly cool as a result. So much so, we'd confidently declare that all the 'it-girls' will be obediently taking note.

When it comes to the tops themselves, the range is truly endless. There are slinky party tops, halter tops with a range of print designs, and tube tops for those looking to throw it all the way back to the original eighties trend. Designers such as Conner Ives debuted tiny crop t-shirts designed to be worn with low-rise skirts, seamlessly bringing in the season's 'low-rise' trend. New designers on the block, Matthew Bruch and Christopher Esber, also got in on the moment, dressing their models in cropped cotton button-down shirts. As scary as revealing your mid-drift may sound, with every color and style on offer, there's sure to be something for everyone. Good luck!
