Emily Ratajkowski is known for her timeless street style. After all, she does spend a ton of time walking around town. "I live in New York City, and I have a very big dog, so I'm walking everywhere all the time," she once explained. So when she collaborates with a sneaker brand to create a spring collection, you just know it's gonna be good. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming Emrata x Superga SS22 drop.
For many years the model has been a fan of the classic shoe company. But more recently, the 30-year-old has started to opt for sneakers over heels. "I'm actually becoming kind of an anti-heel person," Emrata confessed. "I think maybe with COVID and becoming a mom, they always feel too fussy. I feel more comfortable and like myself in sneakers." Luckily she has created the perfect tennis shoe that's not only comfy but can be dressed up and down! What else could we want?!
Working with Superga, Emrata looked through older designs to spark inspiration for her own designs. After endless hours of curating, she finally decided on two of the brand's most iconic styles: the 2750 tennis shoe and the lug-soled, high-top Alpina boot. But of course, she included her own personal touch to the sneakers. I liked the idea of having two tones, so the shoe wasn't white white," she said. "When I get dressed, I don't want my shoes to match my white T-shirt. I want there to be something kind of different to break it up. We also added a little bit of ribbing on the sole to make it sportier. There's some nostalgia in the shoe, but it feels it feels modern too." The footwear will have tubular laces, logo-engraved aluminum eyelets, and custom off-white soles.
Emrata revealed her best tips on how to style the new line. "I wear sneakers with everything, from sweatsuits for a plane journey to dresses in the summer, an oversized suit or a miniskirt in the evening, and of course jeans and a T-shirt," she revealed. "That's what's so great about them - they're so versatile." Okay, we're convinced! Make sure you check out the collection on Superga's website.
