The year is 2005. Ashley Tisdale fans are anxiously waiting for the movie star to arrive at the premiere of her latest movie Ice Princess. She steps out of the limo wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and a sparkly gold skirt on top. Photographers are shouting her name, capturing her red-carpet look, and within moments the ultimate fashion trend is born. Why had no one thought to put a skirt over their jeans before?

For many of us who remember this iconic time where celebrities everywhere were trying to convince us that this look just worked, we will likely look back on this trend as one for the books. Well, don't shoot the messenger, but we're here to inform you that this trend seems to be making a comeback. And who better to persuade us of its credibility than Euphoria's Alexa Demie, who showcased this look at the Balenciaga Fall/Winter 2022 show during Paris Fashion Week just a few days ago.

Alexa rocked this '05 inspired look in the form of a black Balenciaga skirt over Black pants seemingly made of the same black leather material. It's not as scary as it sounds, honest. Pairing the outfit with black pointy heels, a small black bag, gold jewelry, and bold makeup and hair, we can't deny she's making it work. With her modern take on the look, we'll never say never!

If Alexa alone is not enough to convince you that this look may be worth bringing back to your wardrobe, the dress-over-pants trend actually featured in a number of the PFW fashion shows. The top models and brands demonstrated that it doesn't need to be sparkly skirts and baggy loose jeans to count. Instead, they served up some classier looks with sleek matching patterns and complimentary uplifting accessories. Celebrities such as Rita Ora, Lizzo, Phoebe Dynevor, and Hailee Steinfeld are all getting in on this fashion moment with their takes on the latest 2022 trend. From slits to sheer looks, there's something for everyone! Stay tuned for more vintage looks making a comeback...
