After a long cold winter filled with Doc Martens and slippers, it's nice to finally let our toes free with flip-flops and sandals! Except it seems like the trends in these warmer months might be a little different. The loafer has been spotted on many supermodels these days. And honestly, we can't help but adore the chic look. Here's how those shoe has taken over...
Recently, Hailey Bieber was spotted wearing platform black loafers, which she paired with dainty white socks that peeked through and a black skirt suit. The model looked put together but comfy, something that her stylist Dani Michelle sure knows how to get done. Now, this outfit is not something new. Not so long ago, Hailey's BFF Kendall Jenner walked out wearing the classic slip-on loafers that also featured hassles for a pop of fun. The rest of her outfit was a pair of dark wash denim jeans paired with a basic tank top. Maybe the newfound love for loafers is a new right of passage for models - or maybe it's because these two stars share the same stylist...we can't know for sure.
Obviously, if Kendall and Hailey are rocking a new trend, we have no doubt their pal Bella Hadid would also be on that same vibe. Except, in true Bella-fashion, she was sporting loafers long before her friends. Last month, the 25-year-old model wore a grunge look that featured a zip-up sweatshirt, a Heaven by Marc Jacobs graphic T-shirt, and a midiskirt that she paired with knee-high white socks and a pair of hefty loafers.
These supermodels may be the ones showcasing loafers on the street, but the classic shoe has been displayed on the runway for quite some time. From brands like Prada and Gucci to Miu Miu and Ganni, we can see how this shoe has become a summer staple in our closets. Despite the heavy-duty look, these shoes can be a great accessory for hot weather. Especially because they pair best with summer outfits such as skirts or dresses. Steff Yotka from Vogue explained that the shoe is "like a Converse or a Birkenstock - a Platonic ideal that has a life in all seasons." Okay, we're sold! Once you've finally gotten yourselves a pair, check out these other trends that are already taking over this summer.
