Ever since dropping her clothing line back in 2009 during NYFW, Victoria Beckham (both the person & brand) has created many collections that are adored by her fans. Most recently, she launched VB Body, a brand new line that includes jersey separates and dresses. And while it may seem a tad different than her usual extravagant pieces, this line is actually an ode to some of her original designs. Here's everything you need to know.
After VB first launched her company, Nicole Phelps at Vogue said, "The silhouette is beyond body-conscious, ultra-fitted from shoulder line to below the knee, with special seams along the derrière and torso to ensure against flat rear ends and busts, respectively." And while the design has strayed away from this description in the past decade, the former pop singer's newest drop fits it almost exactly. "It really took me back to my roots," Beckham said. "I don't mean my Spice Girl roots—I mean when I first started to create ready-to-wear. It was about creating dresses that were flattering, paying a lot of attention to seaming details in this case because this is a tight knit jersey. All of the garments really cinch you in at the waist, they hug your curves, and they really do celebrate a woman's body."
Beckham's inspiration sparked when she was spending her days relaxing in Miami during the worldwide quarantine. "People really celebrate their bodies," the fashion designer said about the 305. "It's definitely a 'less is more' approach to dressing, which is very different to what we know in London or New York or Paris. It's not about burying ourselves under too many items of clothing." She too felt like she wanted to start dressing that way, "By the time I was in Miami and I was going out, I wanted to get my body out," Beckham recalled. And that's when she began designing the shapewear collection.
VB Body will include simple elevated pieces that can be worn on a night out of town or for grabbing coffee by the pool: mini dresses, bandeau tops, one-shoulder midi dresses, and skirt sets that come in many neutral tones, other than one bright orange colorway for a pop of fun. Honestly, we can't wait to get our hands on these! "This collection is all about accentuating our curves; celebrating who we are and what we've been given," Beckham explained.
