Zendaya stole the show - as usual - at the 2021 CFDA Awards. But the night was hers to begin with, as the Council for Fashion Designers of America named the actress their Fashion Icon Award winner. From what she wore on the red carpet event to an inside scoop into her style inspo, here's everything you need to know.
The CFDA previously announced the Dune star as this year's Fashion Icon, stating that Zendaya's "journey to Fashion Icon superstar happened at supersonic speed." They continued, "Time and again, she has proven that she is unafraid to take risks - from betting on newer talents like Peter Do to working with established houses like Valentino." Making the occasion even more remarkable is that the 25-year-old is the youngest person ever to win the award!
Zendaya rocked the night's red carpet in a breathtaking red Vera Wang set: a bandeau top matched with a floor-length skirt that included a surprising peplum detail and a high slight up the back. Zendaya wasn't here to play games as she proved the 2021 Fashion Icon Award was much deserved - not that we had any doubts.
The A-lister and her stylist, Law Roach, completed the look with long braids and elegant diamond jewelry. As usual, Zendaya exuded timeless class through a modern look, a visual contradiction the Spider-Man actress has perfected over the years.
Zendaya also knew how to pose perfectly in the Vera Wang look. "When I put on an outfit, I will occasionally look at it in the mirror and see what poses work with the silhouette," she recently revealed to InStyle. "I do think a little bit about that." Anyone interested in starting a petition for a Zendaya Insta Live class on how to pose?
She also previously revealed some of her most beloved red carpets looks: "Joan of Arc [at the 2018 Met Gala]. The pink Tom Ford breastplate [at the 2020 Critics' Choice Awards] was one of my favorites. Nothing could hurt me - I was like a warrior. Oh, and the Moschino butterfly dress [at the Australian premiere of The Greatest Showman in 2017]," Zendaya told InStyle.
A big congrats to the history-making goddess!
