While we constantly hear the term metabolism, some of us may not exactly be sure what exactly the process is. Metabolism is the body's way of breaking down food and turning it into energy. It can either be used at the moment or reserved for later. A good working metabolism works fast and efficiently. Here's how a dietician recommends you can boost this process.

While we can't all of a sudden get our metabolism to speed up in a short amount of time, there are many things we can do to try and help it work more effectively. Registered dietician Thira Burns revealed that the best way to do this is by working out. When we move our bodies through exercise, extra energy is exerted to help our muscles work hard. This means the metabolism is speeding up, and that increase remains even up to an hour after the workout has ended.

What's equally important for your metabolism, according to Burns, is to also add certain food groups and supplements into your diet. 7-keto DHEA is a compound that has been linked to healthy metabolism rates. Try looking for a supplement that includes this ingredient, but of course, check with a doctor first before adding it into your wellness routine. But luckily, there are other ingredients you can find in your pantry. Look no further than caffeine, which has been associated with boosting the metabolism, yet too much of it can lead to anxiety, jitteriness, and an upset stomach. So drink your coffee in moderation or if you find it to be too much of an energy booster, opt for green tea or matcha, because it also speeds up the process of metabolism. Burns explained that green tea has a compound called catechins in it, which alongside the caffeine in the tea, also has been linked to aiding in metabolic rates.

Lastly, capsaicin, or spicy foods, should be added to your diet for a fast embolism. It's been shown to help the body quickly burn through energy, aka what the metabolic system does. Check out Burn's Goop Metabolism-Boosting Superpowder, which includes many crucial ingredients that will help support the body's functions of converting food into energy.
