| LAST UPDATE 10/17/2021
Ever since her debut single Bodak Yellow, took her career to the next level back in 2017, Cardi B's never failed to surprise us. And this week, she made history as the first female rapper to achieve Diamond certification. This achievement, given to her by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), signifies that Bodak Yellow has moved 10 million units on the digital song scale.
According to the RIAA, one song unit is equivalent to 150 on-demand audio or video streams. So, it's safe to say that Bodak Yellow is still a banger even after a few years. Upon the announcement of this accomplishment, Cardi wrote a meaningful post on Instagram describing her feelings about it all. "A couple of years ago, I didn't even understand what going diamond means or meant I just wanted to win and break in," she shared. "This record changed my life."
"Thank you everyone who showed Bodak so much support and support and buy till THIS DAYY," Cardi continued. "That's why it went diamond cause of the support YOU still give." Before sharing the news with her fans, Cardi posted a video on Twitter where she hinted at something exciting happening, and almost immediately, many of her followers guessed that she'd achieved Diamond status.

The rapper was showered with love and support on social media from her fans and fellow artists. G-Eazy wrote, "congrats to my homegirl @iamcardib on being the first female in rap to have a certified diamond single... Keep shining." And this isn't the only song of hers to succeed; Cardi's collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, WAP, is on its way to Diamond recognition, as it's currently reached 5x multi-platinum status, as of March 3rd.
Last month, she released another new single, Up, and so far, it's off to a great start! Within the first couple weeks, her first song of 2021 made it to Apple and Spotify's number one spot. Cardi also revealed that she'll be performing at the Grammys next week, and we can't wait to see what she has planned. Between Bodak Yellow's well-deserved Diamond status and Cardi's countless other accomplishments, it's clear that this artist is unstoppable!
