Grammy award winner, Cardi B is still money moves. The I Like It artist just signed a worldwide co-publishing contract with Warner Chappell Music. Here's everything you need to know.
Cardi B made headlines in 2018 after releasing her debut album, Invasion of Privacy. Her work lead her to become the world's first solo female rapper to win a Grammy award for Best Rap Album. Since then, the outspoken, hilarious artist has released singles and collaborative songs with artists including Meghan Thee Stallion and Migos. And to top it all off, she's been dominating the hip-hop scene, all while being a devoted mother to daughter, Kulture.
Even with a second baby on the way, she continued to bless us with great music for the past 3 years. But it's time to start preparing for even more bangers. Her upcoming full album will be under the new deal with Warner, along with her latest projects: Including the feature on Lizzo's song Rumors. The track reached number 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and it's certainly well-deserved.
While this was Lizzo's first time charting that high, this wasn't new for Cardi B. Her hits, Bodak Yellow, Up, I Like It, WAP, and Girls Like You have all been slotted as #1. So, it's no surprise that Warner Chappell wanted to sign with the successful rapper. Ryan Press, the WCM President of A&R said, "Cardi is a defining artist of our culture – a master lyricist and show-stopping performer who’s already racked up a deep collection of hits after just six years in the game."
And it looked like Cardi is also excited about the union. Saying, "I’ve always admired how Guy (WCM CEO), Carianne (WCM COO), Ryan Press, and the Warner Chappell team support their songwriters and artists and I look forward to a thriving and successful partnership with them." This comes after the company also signed deals with big names like Saweetie, Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars.
Guy Moot and Carianne Marshall had only good things to say about her, "Cardi is a one-of-a-kind artist who continues to be at the top of her game, creating records that dominate the charts time after time. Her music truly speaks for itself, and we’re incredibly honored to be in business with this modern-day icon."
We are so excited to see what Cardi's new deal will bring us in the future. And in the meantime, we'll keep working on our TikToks to her older masterpieces.
