This week just got a whole lot better, all thanks to Olivia Rodrigo. The chart-topping singer surprised fans with a fire new music video for her song Brutal. Here are all the angsty details on the Y2K-inspired masterpiece.
Olivia is truly the gift that keeps on giving. First, she made Spotify history, and then the performer blessed us with a vinyl version of her hit album, Sour. Rodrigo released the beauty on Friday, August 20th at Urban Outfitters, Target, Walmart, Amazon, and "ur local record store," she detailed. "I couldn't be more excited if I tried!!!!!!" the 18-year-old shared on the Gram.

She added, "I've discovered so many of my favorite albums through vinyl records, and it's the coolest thing in the world to get to hold one with songs I wrote." And that clearly wasn't the only lil thing Olivia planned on giving us since she dropped a music video for Brutal on Monday, August 23rd. And yes, we're freaking out. It's everything we ever imagined it would be... and then some.
The new video is a total 2000s throwback because, duh. Featuring a stylish and eccentric wardrobe, old video games, and malls (no online shopping here), the nearly 3 minute masterpiece takes us on a ride through the drivers license singer's anxious teenage experiences. And it looks like Olivia loved making it as much as we love watching it.
"Had the best time ever making this," she wrote on Insta. "So so so grateful for @petrafcollins who constantly inspires me and who directed this video so incredible. hope u guys love the vid and all my teen angst lol." Oh, we've only been watching it on repeat since its release, girl. And the visuals feature some surprise appearances from some of our fave faces, including Nico Hiraga, Luke Gage, and others.
Check it out for yourself above. And as if Olivia's day couldn't get any better after all the positive feedback from her fans, the one and only Selena Gomez gave the singer a shout-out. "my bestie @petracollins directed the perfectly adorable @oliviarodrigo," Sel wrote on her Insta Story. Women supporting women? Yes, please!
