Save your tears: The Weeknd finally has new music headed our way. After endless rumors and anticipation, the Grammy-winning artist took to the mic to confirm his big news. Here's what our favorite Starboy had to say about the upcoming release.
For starters, our Spotify playlist is about to get the upgrade it deserves -"very soon." The Weeknd recently sat down for his Memento Mori show to talk all things music. And from the sounds of it? He's been quite the busy man these days. "A lot has been going down, a lot of moving pieces," the artist confessed. But forget his recent house purchase; let's talk about his upcoming album...
"Some Dawn updates: Album is complete," the singer teased. "Only thing that's missing is a couple of characters who are key to the narrative -- some people that are near and dear to me, some people that inspired my life as a child, and some that inspire me now. More to come in the following months." Are you as excited as we are?
In case you forgot, the upcoming Dawn-era has been a long time in the making. "If the last record is the After Hours of the night, then the Dawn is coming," Abel teased to Variety back in May of his future project. "It's the album I've always wanted to make," he later added to GQ. As for what exactly we can expect?
Safe to say, our Starboy won't be playing it safe this time around. And whether his upcoming tracks make it to the Grammys or not, he won't be going anywhere anytime soon. "I want to do this forever. And even if I start getting into different mediums and different types of expressions, music will be right there. I'm not going to step away from it," Tesfaye proudly explained to GQ.
Well, there you have it. Be sure to check out the full Memento Mori episode and stay tuned. While we don't yet have word on a release date, we do know we'll be nabbing some "exciting features" this Fall...
